| Local
independent grocery singled out in national trade publication

Baesler's Market, one Terre Haute retailer that is
doing business at "A Level Above," has made the pages of a
national grocery trade publication in a very positive way.
A story in the October 21, 2005 issue of "Progressive Grocer"
features the family-owned store, calling it "a study in single-store
success."
"The magazine's interest in our store is indicative of the
fact that the number of independent grocers is dwindling,"
said owner Bob Baesler. "I guess they wanted to tell the story
of what one store has done right to stay in business and even
expand."
The article pictures the outside of the recently expanded
store at 2900 Poplar in Terre Haute and lists its management
team. It reviews the store's development from a meat market
operated by Bob Baesler's great-grandfather, George Baesler,
to a competitive supermarket with a reputation for quality
and superior customer service.
In the article, Baesler talks about how he came to join the
family business and about the factors that have contributed
to the store's success - customer service, the gasoline business,
and the emphasis on "fresh." Calling his 160 employees "our
greatest asset," Baesler also acknowledges the competitive
advantage that selling fuel has given the store.
"The article speaks well of all of our employees," Baesler
said. "It's been that way for 112 years, and it's still that
way. It's great that they could get this kind of national
recognition."
