With appearances during this year's Indiana State University
Homecoming weekend, one of the world's most famous vehicles
helped Baesler's Market raise $1,500 for the Terre Haute Children's
Museum's building fund
The Oscar Meyer Wienermobile, hosted by Baesler's, appeared
in the Homecoming Parade and at Memorial Stadium before the
game, as well as at the store at 29th and Poplar the day before.
Baesler's sold hot dogs and soft drinks at the Wienermobile's
appearances, with proceeds going to the Children's Museum,
said storeowner Bob Baesler. "We thought the Wienermobile
would be a fun entry into the parade, and we were pleased
to help the Children's Museum with its building campaign.
Thanks goes to Pepsi for donating the soft drinks."
The Oscar Meyer Wienermobile has been the company's traveling
hot dog ambassador since its creation in 1936. The fiberglass
version that appeared in Terre Haute has a Chevrolet W4 series
chassis, V-8, 6.0 liter, 350 Vortec 5700 engine and weighs
the equivalent of one million hot dogs.
Visitors to the vehicle's interior saw a hot dog shaped dashboard,
seating for six in mustard and ketchup colored seats and a
removable bun roof. The Weinermobile has traveled in the U.S.,
Canada, Japan, Puerto Rico, Spain, Mexico and Germany.
